The General Mills Foundation developed the Champions Youth Nutrition and Fitness Grant program in partnership with the American Dietetic Association Foundation. Every year, 50 grants of up to $10,000 each are awarded to community-based groups that develop creative ways to help youth adopt a balanced diet and physically active lifestyle.

American Society for Nutrition: General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition - Innovation Award
 

Given to an investigator whose scientific contributions advance the understanding of the health benefits of whole grain.  Eligible recipients are conducting mechanistic, epidemiological, clinical, translational, in vitro and/or ex vivo research contributing to knowledge of the health benefits of cereal grains and grain components.  The $5,000 award and engraved plaque are sponsored by General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition.

This award provides $75,000 per year for three years (totaling $225,000) for a young investigator working toward an independent career studying the relationship of gut microflora to physiology and immune function.
